Pre-employment blues....

I (Dianne) will start working on Monday. I intentionally took a blog leave as a form of penitence until I get a job. Well i think it is about time i share the story of my job search.

I started job hunting in the last days of April. Zek and I agreed to take a well-deserved vacation first. Father Ching from the Campus Ministry in UST advised us not to rush working. We agreed with him. I applied online and left a couple of resume's in the variuos companies. We were idealistic, optimistic and focused on our carreer vision.

For some reason, I wanted to work in a Manufacturing Industry. The reason is quite simple, I want to be able to witness how certain products are made. Simple, mababaw, ewan. Weird nga ata yung gusto kung yun. Para akong lalake. I think it is because in that kind of industry, someone has the chance meeting a diversity of people: from the blue-collar workers in factories to the top management. This was mentioned to me by the one who interviewed me.

However, i was not picky. I also applied to other industries as well. I ended up being interviwed 11 times in different companies. I was interviewed by 2 HR Managers, 1 HR supervisor, 1 Vice-President for Admin, and the rest were from Recruitment teams. I took 5 Exams as well. It was exhausting....BUT MOST OF ALL, I BELIEVE THAT JOB HUNTING IS MORE OF A "HUMBLING" experience.

It makes even the most proud people squirm with anxiety. It makes us a slave for phone calls. It makes us wait for long hours without complaining. It makes us walk long distances in order to save money. It makes us read the classified ads religiously. Minsan, kahit gaano ka kagaling sa tingin mo, mawawala rin ang YABANG mo. Nagiging pantay ang karamihan ng tao. Lumalabas ang mga kahinaan. Pero, lumalabas din ang TAPANG.

I have always wanted to pursue a carreer in Training and Development. It is because I believe that Training is the Heart of Human Resource Management. I wouldn't want to deviate from what i have trained and exposed to.

I will be an ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (OD) ASSISTANT IN CENTURY CANNING CORPORATION. it's kinda funny because the day after i learned I was hired, Ma'm Vida texted me about a job opportunity in GMA-7. Ma'm Vida is our professor in OD in UST.

I feel so blessed that i got my dream first job. It would be a good start for me to pursue my carreer plan. I have to thank the Lord for that. Now that i will work in an industry that i want, i am more motivated to work. Most importantly, i am in the field of work that i LOVE.
